Mission... Divorce hurts. People who have not experienced the pain of divorce or separation cannot fully understand its impact. That's the reason we offer DivorceCare. It is a series of support groups and seminars conducted by people who understand. DivorceCare is a way to deal with the pain of the past and a way to begin looking forward to rebuilding the future.
What... At DivorceCare, those experiencing divorce or separation become a part of a small group of people who have also had this experience. By coming together; members learn that there are others who understand what they are feeling and are able to offer encouragement. Information is presented at this seminar; after which members have a chance to talk about what was presented. Seminar topics include: The Road to Healing/Finding Help; Facing Your Anger & Loneliness; Financial Survival; Kidcare; Forgiveness & Reconciliation; Moving On, Growing Closer to God.
Future Plans... Many congregations have members who have felt the pain of separation or divorce. Sponsoring a DivorceCare group is an excellent way to minister to the needs of congregational members, as well as to reach out into the community to those who have no church home, but are suffering the same painful life experiences. LFS staff are able to facilitate DivorceCare groups in congregations throughout Iowa during the coming years. Testimony. “DivorceCare helped me understand my anger and loneliness. It also helped me forgive my spouse."
“After 15 years, I forgave my former wife - blessed relief and new freedom!”
"I know that I am not alone."
"The honesty and openness of the individuals on the tapes helped me face my feelings and my situation and divorce."
